About Us

Sew Pro's is a family business, owned and operated by Janie Tulledge, her son Stewart and her daughter Tina. Stewart Sr. passed away in March of 2022 and son Jeff in January 2024.

It all started in June of 1958 when Stewart Sr. came to California to visit after his sophomore year at the University of Wisconsin. Upon arriving, he took a summer job selling sewing machines door-to-door for the fun of it. He enjoyed California so much he never returned to Wisconsin! After only a few months, he opened his first store and operated a successful business until 1960 when he was drafted into the military. Upon his return, a new business began and has continued to grow.

Stewart and Janie met in college. Janie joined the business shortly after their marriage. Stewart went back to college, earning his B.A. and teaching credential. When Stewart began teaching elementary school, Janie became more and more involved in the business. While raising three children, she took over management of the company.

We’ve grown from a one man operation to one of the largest and most successful independent sewing machine and vacuum dealerships in the country. We’re proud to provide our local community with a convenient store location, staffed by friendly, knowledgeable team members who are dedicated to exceeding customer expectations.
