To sign up for a class, please pre-register to reserve your space.

Classes have a minimum of 4 students and refunds are available up to one week before the first class session.  In fairness to the teachers and other students who have purchased their supplies, we are unable to make refunds after that time.

Supplies are needed for all classes and a supply list will be furnished when you register. The class fee covers instruction only, but there is a 10% discount on all supplies needed for the class.  Materials for classes must be purchased from us so that we can remain in business to keep offering you more great classes!

Due to student and teacher allergies, please refrain from wearing perfumes and scented lotions to class.

Classes

BEGINNING MACHINE APPLIQUE

Learn how to use fusible web successfully and techniques for stitching straight lines and curves plus getting around those tricky inner and outer points. You will also learn how to layer applique pieces to achieve the look you want. This class is for beginners, comfortable with rotary cutting and basic quilting techniques. Our project will be an appliquéd towel. Sewing machine required. Tues. Feb. 21 & 28 6-8pm

BEGINNING SEWING

Sewing clothes and accessories is all the rage again! Learn the basics in this great four week class. No previous experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and have fun. Sewing machine required. Mon. Feb. 6, 13, 20 & 27 6-8pm

FABRIC BOXES

These cute and collapsible fabric boxes are great for holding napkins, silverware, jewelry and sewing tools. First introduced in our Groovy Girls Club, they have become a favorite! Tues. Feb. 7 5:30-8:00pm

INTRODUCTION TO DESIGNER’S GALLERY MACHINE EMBROIDERY SOFTWARE

Have you downloaded some of those free designs and they didn’t stitch out? Found the perfect design and it is too BIG or too small for your project? Tried a software download that said it would fix all your embroidery problems and it was too confusing to work with? Join Connie for our Designer’s Gallery Event and learn how you can truly expand your embroidery. Designer’s Gallery can be used with all major formats for embroidery machines. Knitting Next Door Classes

We are starting a new monthly knit-a-long, with Janet and Mary. This knit-a-long will feature a new pattern each month from Cascade Yarn’s new book, 60 More Quick Knits. This two-week series is for the absolute beginner and those who need a refresher. Beautiful entrelac looks like inter-laced bands of color when knitted with variegated yarn. KND: NIFTY NEWBIE HAT

Are you a beginner lacking experience and confidence? This class is for you! We’ll build from the skills you already have and you will learn to knit in the round with BOTH circular and double-point needles. KND: TOE-UP SOCK USING MAGIC LOOP (ONE AT A TIME)

Ready to try socks? This is the perfect class to get you started knitting socks! This class will teach you how to make one sock at a time, starting from the toe, using the magic-loop method. You will learn how to do the classic heel flap with gusset in this class. Once you get through this class, you’ll be well on your way to always having warm feet with the beautiful socks you knit yourself! You’ll want to outfit the whole family! Wed. KND: BABIES & BEARS SWEATER

If you love to knit for little folks and enjoy unique techniques, you’ll want to join us for this class. This precious sweater is a bonanza of techniques — partly knit back and forth, in the round, and side to side. It’s your choice whether to trim it in a Fair Isle or Gansey contrast. KND: CLASSIC CABLE PULLOVER FOR TODDLERS

Make this classic for the toddler in your life. A great project for the established beginner that is ready for an intermediate level project. This sweater is knit from the neck down and only one piece, absolutely no seams! You will learn how to knit in the round on circular and double pointed needles, ribbing, increases, decreases, sectioning off, picking up stitches, and of course, how to do this lovely classic cable panel. If you have a special new baby you want to knit for or want to polish your techniques for a larger project, this little charmer is for you! The design states it is a “practically seamless sweater”, but we’ll show you how to complete it with absolutely no seams to sew. This Elizabeth Zimmermann classic has plenty of varied techniques to keep you interested until your finished—garter stitch bodice and bordering, a simple lace pattern and teeny buttonholes. Fri. KND: IT’S ALL ABOUT THE YARN

Have you found the perfect pattern, but can’t find the yarn it calls for? Did you fall in love with some yarn, but don’t know what you can make with it? Did you make a hat that wouldn’t fit because your gauge was off? Here’s your chance to learn some of the answers to those questions and more. We’ll review yarn weights, fiber content, how to substitute yarns, gauge, yards vs. meters, reading yarn labels, testing dye lots, and much more. Wed. Mar. 7, 6-8pm

Come to knit or crochet & laugh with your knitting friends. This is a social event with no instruction. Ongoing Thursdays 5 pm – 7 pm

KND: LEARN TO CROCHET

KND: MAGIC LOOP TOE-UP SOCKS (2 AT A TIME)

This class will teach you how to make socks using the magic loop method from the toe up. Both socks are made at the same time. You will learn the Turkish cast-on for a seamless toe, a very simple short-row heel method, and Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Sewn bind off. After completing this course, you will be able to use these three skills for almost any sock design you desire. Sat. Mar. 3, 17 & 31, 1-3pm

KND: OOPS, I MADE A MISTAKE

Frustrated when you make a mistake because you don’t know what else to do but start over? Here’s a class just for you. Learn how to fix common mistakes like twisted stitches and dropped stitches.  Learn how to "tink", and frog.  Use a life-line to go back past your mistake. Mon. Feb. 20, 3:30—5:30pm

KND: POTATO CHIP SCARF

KND:DOUBLE POINT NEEDLES BEGINNING SOCK

Have you wanted to knit socks, but felt too intimidated to try learning on your own? Have you tried knitting socks, but felt overwhelmed by the process? Join us as we take sock knitting one step at a time, and get you accustomed to handling the double point needles. For folks that love a simple, satisfying, traditional-style knitting approach, this sock knitting class will give you a nudge toward creating fabulous, hand knit socks for yourself and those you love (careful—the orders just might start piling in!).
